Eligibility for Signature's IB

Signature School's International Baccalaureate Programme is open to all entering eleventh grade students who have

successfully completed Signature's ninth and tenth grade course sequence and are on track to earn the Indiana Academic Honors diploma; OR
successfully completed chemistry, geometry, two or more years of French, German, or Spanish and are on track to earn the Indiana Academic Honors diploma.

Students who have not met either of the above two conditions may still become full-diploma IB candidates. Below is a table of fairly common hurdles to entering the program as a full-diploma candidate and suggestions for actions a student might take to overcome these hurdles. If these suggestions do not resolve your situation, please contact the IB coordinator.


	Situation	Action
1.	I have only taken one year of a foreign language.	Contact Ms. Hitchcock (Spanish), Mr. Nouri (French), or Ms. Reineke (German) for an interview about your circumstances and for ideas about catching up. You may need to commit to summer study. If you plan on doing summer study at an institution other than Signature School, you'll need to submit the appropriate form to make sure that the credit you earn will transfer.
2.	I have not taken chemistry.	Contact Mr. Reek (IB Biology), Mr. Thread (IB Chemistry), or Ms. Ahmed (IB Environmental Systems and Societies) for an interview and for ideas about catching up if necessary.
3.	I am not on track to earn an Indiana Academic Honors diploma because I have earned a D or below in one of my classes.	If you earned a D or below in one of the classes required to earn the Indiana Academic Honors Diploma, you will be automatically re-enrolled in that class. One D is not a problem for most IB students because they have room in their schedules to retake a class. If you have earned more than one D or below, it is unlikely that you will be able to make up the classes during eleventh grade and satisfy all of the IB requirements. With help from your parents and the IB coordinator, you should carefully plan a two-year IB schedule that allows you to fulfill Indiana Academic Honors requirements. Then, if you find that you must seek deferment from automatic re-enollment until your senior year in order to fulfill IB diploma requirements, you'll need to fill out and submit the appropriate form.
